Sheltering Arms is seeking a Psychiatrist for our Adolescent Residential Program (ARC). The Psychiatrist is responsible to provide complete initial psychiatric evaluations for all youth entering one of two Sheltering Arms Children and Family Services LSP facilities, or when the need for an updated evaluation is requested as part of treatment or planning by the treatment team. The Staff Psychiatrist will also provide oversight of all children receiving psychotropic medications, and review and approve treatment plans developed by in-house therapists.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Essential Functions:

  • Participates in training, and is knowledgeable of the Integrated Treatment Model, Think Trauma, and STAIR-A models, as well as all relevant procedures and protocols relevant to staff conduct within LSP facilities.
  • Participate with treatment teams in each program.
  • Reviews all data and other reports of Intensive Support (8-bed/ 21-day crisis unit program) to assure knowledgeable and comprehensive treatment recommendations, and timely delivery of psychiatric reports.
  • Psychotherapeutic intervention including psychopharmacologic management and monitoring.
  • Clinical liaison with internal and external health and mental health practitioners

Qualifications:

  • New York State Licensed Physician
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Computer literacy
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical psychiatric experience in a multidisciplinary setting
