MSM Outreach Worker

Sheltering Arms is looking to hire a MSM Outreach Worker to conduct intensive outreach, facilitate groups and provide support to the LGBTQ youth programs at The Space Youth Center, with particular focus on young MSM’s of Color.

Essential Functions    

  • Connect with other organizations to recruit participants for groups, case management and agency services-primary target is young MSM’s.
  • Perform community outreach in areas and locations where young MSM’s congregate.
  • Co-facilitate curriculum-based and open support group discussions on various health-related topics for MSM’s 16-24.
  • Provide presentations to the community on various health-related and LGBTQ topics
  • Represent the TPSS program at community health fairs and related events
  • Perform administrative duties including maintaining sign-in sheets and entering data into AIRS data system.
  • Maintain up-to-date linkage agreements that benefit clients in all areas of the TPSS program, particularly case management
  • Distribute condoms and safe sex information
  • Represent the TPSS programs on community coalitions as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Experience facilitating groups
  • Experience working with adolescents and LGBTQ community
  • Strong presentation and writing skills
  • Has intermediate level HIV/AIDS and STI/STD knowledge
  • Sensitive to cultural, ethnic and gender orientation differences
  • Ability to read and write English proficiently
  • Must possess great social and interpersonal skills
