Junior Accountant

Job Summary 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Processing and submission of monthly claims manually for all programs.  Review General Ledger expenses by cost center to ensure proper coding of expenses is being implemented for all programs.

Duties:

  • Review general ledger expenses by cost center prior to processing and preparation of monthly claims.
  • Prepare monthly claims in accordance in a timely manner with approved budgets for all programs, submit to supervisor for review, then to Controller for review/approval and to CFO for signing.
  • Review expenses for programs, enter data information on budget versus actual billing sheets and submit invoices through HHS in a timely manner.
  • Prepare monthly revenue entry for contract billing. 
  • Reconcile A/R accounts with revenue, review P&L reports for program directors review.
  • Analyze program expenses on budget versus actuals, for all programs and submit to supervisor for review and approval before submitting to funders.
  • Assist with the preparation of budget modifications contract budgets.
  • Review expenses to ensure availability of funds in accordance with budget.
  • Assist with organizing and overseeing internal and all Government/City audits.
  • Special projects.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA, AAS in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in ACS/DYCD contract accounting and other government agency accounting and reporting.  Minimum of three years of business experience.
  • Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office, word and Excel.
