Pediatrician, Part Time

Sheltering Arms Children and Family Services is looking for a part-time (two days/week), potential for full-time, Pediatrician. The office of Health Services at Sheltering Arms provides comprehensive medical care for the organization's Foster Care program, Adolescent Residential Care program and for adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system. The position would entail providing routine pediatric care to children in foster care of all ages, with an additional focus on our adolescent population. We currently provide family planning services and are looking for a physician who can expand this, implement LARC at our office, and provide current and evidence-based care to our patients.



  • Provide comprehensive medical care to adolescents served by this clinic two days a week
  • Interview the Foster Family, Biological Family or designated caseworkers as needed
  • Relay any special information to the Director of Health Services/ Director of Foster Care/Director Group Home about the physical or emotional health of Sheltering Arms children and adolescents, which may come to his/her attention
  • At his or her discretion may request referral of patients to another Medical Center/ Hospital for further diagnosis or treatment
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary communication with clinic staff and other departments to ensure the wellbeing of our patients
  • Other related task that may be assigned



  • A licensed medical doctor in New York State. Completion of an accredited Pediatric or Family Practice Residency Program. Board Eligible or Board Certified in Adolescent Medicine.
  • Experience with adolescents in Foster Care/Group Home a plus.
  • Knowledge of physical and sexual abuse signs and symptoms. Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in emergency situations, to take initiative appropriately and to function independently when required.
