Job Summary: Substitute Teacher’s Aides will work with the classroom teaching team as needed to plan and execute a program to provide child care for children that take into account the educational, social, developmental and health needs of the group, as well as the individual child.  The Substitute Teacher’s Aide will share responsibility with the teaching team for keeping equipment and material accessible and in good condition in addition to removing all hazardous material.  They will participate in group discussions aimed at developing a program of sound educational goals.   The Substitute Teacher’s Aide will promote their own personal growth through participating in regularly scheduled individual conferences, classroom group conferences and staff meetings.  The ideal candidate should have experience with children and be able to work well within a team.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provides assistance when an educational staff is out to ensure minimum staff to child ratio 
  • Works within the framework of the classroom, carries out its functions, policies and procedures
  • Assists in planning and executing a child care program
  • Participates in planning the use of community resources for educational enrichment
  • Participate in related training opportunities as they become available
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with families 
  • Respects confidential nature of all information about families and children
  • Writes records concerning the development of the program and children’s progress.
  • Assists with child observations
  • Assists Group Teacher and Assistant Teacher with all classroom activities and outings
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred 
  • Prior experience working with young children preferred 

Pay: $15.33/hr

Shift: 8-12, 12-4, 8-4, will depend on the need of the center
