Sheltering Arms is seeking a Assistant Program Director for our Non-Secure Placement Program to Provide overall leadership and ensure that program implementation is consistent with Sheltering Arms’ mission, best practices in the field, as well as programmatic objectives and descriptive guidelines. This position requires a motivated, energetic individual that will oversee the quality of services to children and families. The ideal candidate must demonstrate problem solving and critical thinking skills as well as a strong sensitivity to cultural differences.


Essential Functions

  • Supervises facility site directors
  • Oversees the recruitment and selection of staff
  • Implements agency policies and procedures
  • Adheres to mandates and regulations regarding the care, upkeep and safety of the facilities
  • Collaborates with agency departments to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that records are accurate and complete in compliance with city, state, & agency regulations
  • Oversees program quality and evaluation
  • Enhances existing services
  • Develops new treatment components to meet client needs
  • Provides direct supervision to staff
  • Ensures the success of the Missouri Model and of all programming in Non-Secure Placement facilities
  • Conducts weekly MYSI meetings with facility site directors
  • Oversees facility implementation of MYSI model
  • Approves bi-weekly program time sheets  
  • Monitors accounting of weekly-appropriated petty cash
  • Provides supervision and weekly feedback to site directors
  • Other related task that may be assigned



  • MSW or equivalent degree
  • 5 years experience in program implementation and development, management, budgeting, and recruiting and evaluations
  • 3 to 4 years in the provision of youth development and activities programming
  • Knowledge of city, state, and agency regulations and child welfare policies and procedures
