Child Welfare Training Coordinator

Job Summary: The Child Welfare Training Coordinator provides full support to all training initiatives for staff of the Foster Care & Adoption and Preventive programs. By coordinating initial training and ongoing opportunities for professional development, tracking all training and certifications, and facilitating various trainings, the Child Welfare Training Coordinator supports best practices among Sheltering Arms foster care and preventive staff.

 

Essential Functions

  • Works closely with program management in order to identify and support all training requirements for the programs
  • Plans, organizes and implements an initial training program for foster care and preventive staff, including both in-house training and training that is offered through the Human Resources Learning Center (HSLC), the NYC Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) Workforce Institute, the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and the Council of Family and Child Caring Agencies (COFCCA)
  • Develops and facilitates trainings for foster care and preventive staff
  • Creates training materials, curricula and handbooks that support staff training needs
  • Evaluates the efficacy of training activities and initiatives, updates training program to ensure compliance with city, state and federal requirements
  • Acts as a resource to all staff with regard to feedback and guidance
  • Follows up and ensures that all staff members are current with all trainings and program requirements
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field required
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in NYC foster care or preventive services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing training curriculum
  • Exceptional group facilitation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to complete all standard administrative and support tasks including but not limited to climbing up and down stairs, operation of computers/phones/fax/printer/copy machine, and the ability to lift boxes, furniture, and equipment up to 30lbs. Must be able to travel from the various locations and sites of Sheltering Arms. Physical and PPD clearances required and reevaluated annually.
