The Health Services Clinic is a primary care pediatric facility that serves children ages 0-21 that are placed in foster care, that are recently discharged from foster care, and adolescent clients living in the agency’s Adolescent Residential Care (ARC) program. The ARC program includes adolescents living in Hard to Place Group Homes and adolescents placed in the juvenile justice system in Non-Secure Placements.

 

Job DescriptionThe nursing supervisor will work in conjunction with the agency pediatrician, pediatric nurse practitioners, mental health providers and administrative team members to provide comprehensive pediatric care to children attending the Health Services Clinic. The nursing supervisor is responsible for assuring timely and appropriate nursing services for the population served. Duties include direct patient care as well as supervision of nursing clinic staff.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Direct patient care including triage, obtaining vital signs, hearing and vision screens, performing labs (venipuncture, point-of-care labs), ECGs, vaccine administration, IM medication administration
  • Provide health education and anticipatory guidance to patients and families
  • Triage phone calls coming into the clinic during daytime office hours as needed
  • Documentation of patient encounters into electronic systems (EHR, Connections)
  • Supervise nursing staff working in the clinic
    • Train new LPN/RN staff member(s) as needed, provide regular supervision, manage the clinic nursing schedule
    • Train and assist clinic nurse with Vaccines for Children Program (VFC) management as needed
    • Train and assist clinic nurse with coordination of Early Intervention referrals as needed
  • Oversee and manage clinic inventory, order supplies as needed
  • Oversee form requests, including school forms, WIC forms, adoption paperwork
  • Participate in the department QI process and audit preparations and reviews
  • Other responsibilities as needed/required

 

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid NYS Registered Nurse license and CPR certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in providing pediatric primary services
  • Computer proficiency, familiarity and Windows Office Suite and electronic health records
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) preferred
  • Excellent communication, direct treatment and supervisory skills
  • Ability to exercise excellent judgement in emergency situations, to take initiative appropriately and to function independently when required. Knows when to ask for help.

Salary: 80k

Shift: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

Physical requirements: Must have the ability to complete all standard administrative ad support tasks including but not limited to climbing up and down stairs, operation of computers/phones/faxes/printer/copy machine, and the ability to left boxes, furniture, and equipment up to 30 pounds. Must be able to travel to the various locations and sites of SACFS
