Home Visitor, Early Head Start

Sheltering Arms is seeking a Home Visitor for our Early Head Start program. The Home Visitor will provide home-based support to expecting mothers and families involved in our EHS program. This is a full-time position based in the Bronx

Essential Functions

  • Provide home-based support to expectant mothers and parents in their role as the primary caregiver of their child(ren).
  •  Develop and plan activities for children that will support their optimal growth and enhance the relationship between parent and child.
  • Conduct Family Partnership Agreement and Family Engagement Activities.
  • Organize and facilitate parent-child socialization groups.
  • Monitor children’s developmental progress.
  • Coordinate medical and other community-based services that will offer comprehensive support to children and their families.
  •  Maintain accurate case records to meet the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Perform other duties as delegated.


  • Home-based Child Development Associate
  • High School Diploma required;  Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
  • Previous experience with prenatal education and children aged 0-3 years and their families
  • Bilingual preferred

Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to complete all standard administrative and support tasks including but not limited to climbing up and downstairs, operation of computers/phones/fax/printer/copy machine, and the ability to lift boxes, furniture, and equipment up to 30lbs. Must be able to travel from the various locations and sites.
