Sheltering Arms is currently seeking a  Payroll Coordinator for our Finance Department. The Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for the generation of and record keeping of payrolls for Sheltering Arms on a bi-weekly basis.  All records must be accurate and timely.  This position is supervised by the Accounting Supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Has direct responsibility for the process of bi-weekly payrolls via ADP.
  • Accuracy on all data is critical
  • Must review all changes for proper approvals
  • Review payroll output
  • Distribution of checks
  • Must be able to effective use ADP’s Report to generate payroll data reports.
  • Respond timely and accurately to outside government requests and legal inquiries regarding payroll/salary information.
  • Prepare garnishment and deduction reports for each payroll cycle.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports to Department of Labor.
  • Assist in year-end audit and annual compliance reports.
  • Assists, as necessary, Human Resource Department with Department of Labor audits.
  • Assist Controller with special projects related to payroll.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s preferred in accounting or finance.
  • Five to seven years of payroll experience in a non-profit environment; of which two years should be on ADP Workforce. 
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft word and excel; knowledge of Financial Edge a plus, but will train. 
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively; must be highly organized and detail oriented; must demonstrate use of sound judgment; demonstrate patience in working with all levels of staff and maintain confidential information.
