Sheltering Arms is currently seeking a Mental Health Therapist with expertise and experience to provide mental health services to children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations and the ability to exercise good judgments in emergency situations.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide trauma focused assessment, individual, group, family and play therapy through use of evidenced informed treatment model
  • Provide psychoeducation and support to birth parents, foster parents and program staff  with a trauma focused lens
  • Provide mental health care management to an assigned caseload
  • Develop and implement strength based psychosocial, initial and quarterly treatment plans and progress notes
  • Provide crisis intervention sessions
  • Participate in Family Team conference(s)
  • Participate in IEP and other school meetings
  • Participate in B2H or Children’s Health Home Meetings
  • Communicate evaluations and reports with medical and psychiatric staff, program staff, birth parents, foster parents, and outside agencies
  • Completion of case documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with ACS and SACFS standards
  • Other related task that may be assigned


  • Licensed Masters Degree in Social Work; LCSW preferred; Licensed Mental Health Counselor
  • Experiencing working with youth and families in a mental health and child welfare setting preferred
  • Supervisory experience
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred, but not required.
