Job Summary:

The Assistant Site Director is responsible, together with the Site Director, for assuring compliance with the daily routine and structure of the facility and maintaining agency standards of quality care and service provision for the youth residing within the facility. The Assistant Site Director supervises the shift supervisors and direct care staff and coordinates the work of all team members in order to ensure a safe and secure environment and support the Integrated Treatment Model.


Essential Functions:

Work closely with the Site Director to maintain a leadership role in the development of humane, safe, and therapeutic environment which promotes the Integrated Treatment Model including:


  • Ensure the supervision of all on-site staff and residents.
  • Hold staff to high performance standards to ensure they accomplish all functions and provide quality services to the residents.
  • Maintain order, safety and security standards of the home.
  • Uphold daily living routines, schedules, and procedures through supporting direct care staff. 
  • Mediate conflict, whether between staff or residents.
  • Review log books, behavior assessment reports, and other relevant documentation to ensure the accuracy of those who completed it.
  • Manage residents’ behavior utilizing the principles of the Integrated Treatment Model with the goal of teaching the young people to make positive, lasting changes in their behavior.
  • Manage the peer group, understands peer group dynamics, promotes and maintains a positive peer group culture. 
  • Attention to and support of medical issues, student educational/vocational needs, casework, clinical appointments, etc.
  • Inspect dorm and living area daily for cleanliness and organization. Ensure major details are completed regularly and appropriately.
  • Schedule and maintain daily maintenance of agency vehicles.
  • Appropriately document emergencies, accidents, illnesses, incidents, injuries, other relevant reports.
  • Participate in planning and execution of educational, recreational, and personal enrichment activities.
  • Participate in ongoing meetings, conferences training program as required.  
  • Communicate frequently with Site Director, Assistant Program Director for NSP, Case Planners, and support staff regarding pertinent information about residents. 
  • Responsible for adhering to all ACS, OCFS, agency regulations and training requirements
  • Share on-call responsibilities with Site Director and Assistant Program Director.
  • Must be able to carry out all of the duties and functions of a Youth Specialist.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary: 50k


  • High School Diploma + 2 years of experience working with juvenile populations required; Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred. 
  • At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory, leadership, or administrative role.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to maintain required documentation. 
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and youth development, and trauma-informed perspective.
  • Ability to travel to all five boroughs.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Sheltering Arms Children and Family Services.
  • For this role, COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of the job.
  • Must be able to pass required Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training and pass recertification on an annual basis.
