Job Summary: This position is to ensure that all youth in foster care age 14+ develop the necessary
skills to obtain and maintain employment during and after foster care. As part of the Unlimited Potential
(UP!) team, this position will support the team’s work by facilitating and participating in workshops, team
meetings, events, and other tasks geared toward supporting youth as they prepare to leave foster care.

Essential Functions
● Meet with all noncoached youth age 14+ to develop an individualized career development and
employment plan.
● Assist youth in creating an employment portfolio (i.e. resume, cover letter, a list of references and
proof of skill sets).
● Identify appropriate career exploration activities, training programs, internships and job
● Work with youth on budgeting, opening checking accounts, and understanding the need to save.
● Ensure that youth understand how to get to work, what to wear, how to interview, how to be on
time and how to meet daily expectations while at work.
● Create partnerships with employers, local businesses, and schools.
● Serve as the point person for the Columbia Workforce Program and implement the YA-WORC
● Track employment placement outcomes and retention for participants and utilizing data to
improve the quality of services provided.
● Provide on-going training to agency staff on career development issues for foster youth.
● Meet regularly with UP! Program Director for individual and group supervision.
● Complete progress notes in CONNECTIONS and all required tasks in Care4 in accordance with
agency standards for timely submission of documentation.
● Help facilitate monthly workshops for youth.
● Collaborate with case planning and other members of the UP! Team to ensure the timely delivery
of high-quality services to youth.
● Attend relevant agency-based and external training
● Other duties that may be assigned.

● Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
● Must have experience working with youth in foster care.
● Knowledge of NYC workforce development and child welfare systems
● Ability to motivate participants toward full-time, entry-level employment.
● Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
● Comfort traveling throughout NYC to provide services
● Prior experience with facilitating training preferred
