Part Time Kin Specialist

We are looking for a Part Time Kin Specialist who will be responsible for helping the foster care homefinding team certify identified kinship resources in a timely manner by supporting kin as they navigate the licensing process. This position is 20 hours a week and has a flexible schedule.


Essential Functions:

  • Work collaboratively with the homefinding team, case planners and the family finding specialist to ensure that suitable relatives and fictive kin are certified as foster parents as quickly as possible
  • Support relatives and fictive kin as they navigate the certification process
  • Assist in provision of Mini-Mapp training for kinship foster parents
  • Educate the homefinding team on strategies for working with kinship foster parents
  • Serve as an ongoing source of information for kinship foster parents and connect them to supports as needed
  • Perform all other related tasks



  • A high school diploma or equivalency diploma
  • Current or former experience as a kinship foster parent in New York City
  • Excellent communication, planning, organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Comfortable traveling throughout NYC
