Job Summary: The Reception Center Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing and/or overseeing appropriate mental health screenings and assessments for infants, toddlers and children (ages 0-12) at the Reception Center. They will provide short term intervention aimed to reduce the development of trauma symptoms in infants, toddlers and children during the peri-traumatic period post removal from family of origin. In addition the clinician will work closely with the Program Director and the Program Manager to develop and maintain a trauma informed therapeutic milieu, including trainings for other center staff and ongoing trauma-informed program consultation. Individual, group, and family sessions will be provided as necessary, utilizing short term trauma informed practices. The clinician will participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team responsible for making recommendations regarding a child’s placement, reunification or visitation plans. The clinician will provide a link between the team and other mental health providers in preparing for the child’s transition from the Reception Center.
