Sheltering Arms’ Early Childhood Education Program: Serves working families in the community, and our eleven Day Care Centers meet a growing need for high quality, affordable early education. Our dedicated educators guide children through hands-on learning activities and a constantly growing set of innovations, such as mental health support and exposure to the arts. Our model is informed by New York’s Common Core learning standards and the Creative Curriculum, ensuring that children gain the early literacy, math, and cognitive skills they will need to succeed in Kindergarten and beyond.


Sheltering Arms is currently seeking a Health Services Coordinator (LPN) for our Day Care Center. The Coordinator builds positive relationships with the children and their families to ensure their health, and will be responsible for conducting medical intakes, working with the children’s physicians, and maintaining all case records.  This Exciting Opportunity is a Full Time,  Monday - Friday unionized position (DC 1707 and Local 205) in Corona, Queens; comprehensive union benefits package including medical, dental, life, vision, prescription, and pension plan.


  • Builds responsive, trusting relationships with each child/family; assists families with assuming responsibility for their child’s health care through the selection of appropriate health care providers and resources
  • Maintains/reviews medical/dental records
  • Ensures that all children’s immunizations are up-to-date and that children undergo all necessary examinations upon program entrance


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services or related field preferred OR High School Diploma plus Nursing Program, and 2+ years of experience required; LPN required
  • This positions may require travel to/from day care locations throughout the city to provide services; valid NYS Driver’s License preferred
  • Prior experience working with pediatric/Early Child populations
  • Bilingual is a plus
